Caldera secures funding in advance of IPO
Investors will find out if Wall Street remains bullish on Linux as Caldera Systems Inc. gets set for its initial public offering -- possibly as early as this week, according to sources. Caldera, of Orem, Utah, will also announce today it has secured about $30 million in additional funding, the sources said, from the likes of Sun Microsystems Inc., Novell Inc. and other major technology companies.
IBM pins hardware plans on Linux
Sam Palmisano, head of the IBM server group, said in an interview on Friday that he was committed to making all of IBM's major computer product lines Linux-ready, combining fragmented efforts IBM had made in this direction last year.
